To reach Lo Manthang, the main town in Upper Mustang, start your journey from Pokhara or Kathmandu. If driving from Pokhara, take the Prithvi Highway towards Kathmandu and then follow the road to Jomsom. From Jomsom, the road to Lo Manthang is a rough and scenic drive. It's recommended to hire a 4WD vehicle due to the challenging terrain. The distance from Jomsom to Lo Manthang is about 50 kilometers and can take around 3-4 hours depending on road conditions.

From Pokhara, take a public bus to Jomsom. Buses leave regularly and the journey takes about 8-10 hours. Once in Jomsom, you can either hire a jeep or take a local bus to Lo Manthang. Local buses may not run frequently, so it's wise to check the schedule in advance. The jeep ride from Jomsom to Lo Manthang takes around 3-4 hours and costs approximately NPR 2,000-3,000 per person.
