Haarlemmerdijk: The Vibrant Heart of Amsterdam

Getting There

• Walking

  If you're starting from Amsterdam Central Station, exit the station and head southwest towards the Damrak. Continue straight onto Damstraat, which leads you to Dam Square. From Dam Square, take the Kalverstraat, a popular shopping street. Keep walking until you reach the end of Kalverstraat, where it turns into the Spui square. Continue straight, and you will eventually reach the Haarlemmerdijk street in about 25 minutes.

• Tram

  From Amsterdam Central Station, board tram line 1, 2, or 5. Get off at the 'Leidseplein' stop. From Leidseplein, walk towards the Overtoom street and take a left. Follow the Overtoom until you reach the Haarlemmerdijk street. This journey takes around 15 minutes on the tram, plus a 10-minute walk.

• Bus

  If you're near the Rijksmuseum, take bus line 347 or 357 from the 'Museumplein' bus stop. Get off at the 'Haarlemmerdijk' stop. This will drop you right next to Haarlemmerdijk street. The bus ride takes about 10 minutes.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the many rental shops around the city. From the Rijksmuseum, head north on the Stadhouderskade, then take a left onto the Haarlemmerdijk. The ride should take about 10-15 minutes, depending on your speed.
