Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Walking
If you are in the city center (Dam Square), head southwest towards the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal street. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with the Spui. Cross the Spui and continue onto the Herenstraat. Follow Herenstraat until you reach the junction with the Prinsengracht canal, then turn right. Walk along the Prinsengracht until you see the Jordaan neighborhood on your left. The area is characterized by its narrow streets and quaint canals, making it a picturesque spot to explore.
Tram
From Amsterdam Central Station, take tram line 5, 10, or 12 towards the west. Get off at the 'Westermarkt' stop, which is located on the edge of the Jordaan district. Once you exit the tram, walk down the Westermarkt street towards the canal. You will find yourself at the entrance of the Jordaan neighborhood. Enjoy strolling through the charming streets filled with local shops and cafes.
Bicycle
To reach the Jordaan by bicycle, rent a bike from one of the many rental shops in the city. If you are starting from Dam Square, head towards the Raadhuisstraat and follow it as it curves into the Keizersgracht canal. Continue cycling along the canal until you reach the intersection with the Brouwersgracht. Turn left at Brouwersgracht, which leads you directly into the heart of the Jordaan area. Be mindful of pedestrians and other cyclists as you navigate the narrow streets.
