Molen De Put: A Historic Dutch Windmill in the Heart of Leiden

Getting There

• Train

  From Amsterdam Central Station, purchase a ticket to Leiden. Board a train heading to either Leiden or The Hague, as both will stop at Leiden. The journey takes approximately 35-40 minutes. Once you arrive at Leiden Central Station, exit the station and head to the bus stop located just outside. Take bus number 34 or 43 towards 'Leiden, Park de Put'. Get off at the 'Leiden, Park de Put' stop, and Molen De Put will be a short walk away.

• Bus

  From Amsterdam, you can also take a direct bus to Leiden. Head to the Amsterdam Sloterdijk bus station, where you can catch a FlixBus or a similar service to Leiden. The bus ride will take around 1 hour. Once you arrive at the bus station in Leiden, walk towards the city center and look for bus stops. Take bus number 34 or 43 towards 'Leiden, Park de Put'. Get off at the 'Leiden, Park de Put' stop, and Molen De Put will be a short walk away.

• Bicycle

  If you're feeling adventurous and want to experience the Dutch cycling culture, you can rent a bicycle in Amsterdam. Follow the signs for the bike paths leading south towards Leiden. The ride is approximately 40-45 minutes, depending on your pace. Once you reach Leiden, head towards Park de Put, where Molen De Put is located. There are bike racks available near the mill for parking.

• Walking

  While walking directly from Amsterdam to Leiden is not practical due to the distance, you can walk within Leiden once you arrive. From Leiden Central Station, it's about a 20-minute walk to Molen De Put. Exit the station and head southeast on Stationsweg. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Witte Singel. Turn left onto Witte Singel, then proceed until you reach Park de Put.
