Having spent significant time living/studying in Leiden himself, he wove in personal anecdotes alongside the historical facts and landmarks, making the whole experience feel intimate and authentic rather than rehearsed. The picnic was a lovely highlight, especially for the younger members of our group - the lunch and weather were simply perfect, though a heads-up for those with older guests...sitting on the ground was a bit of a challenge for some members in our group. And perhaps one of our favorite unplanned moments was when Matthew carved out time to stop at a local restaurant for a cold beer together. A great tour for the whole family, where the children can guess well. Just the right level for primary school children and older together with the parents you can do it great. We had a lot of fun and learned a lot about Rembrandt and saw a lot.

On a beautiful sunny day, we did the Qula City Trail in Leiden. It was a fun way to explore the city. The route took us past both well-known sights and hidden gems, and the challenges were varied and easy to follow—even for younger kids. The game runs smoothly on your phone. You can go at your own pace, which is great if you want to take a break or stop at a café along the way. Leiden is a lovely city to walk through, especially when the weather is nice. Tip: Bring your Museum Card! We also visited the Hortus Botanicus and the windmill during the trail. And make sure that your phone-battery is full.
