    If you are in the city center of Leiden, start at the Leiden Central Station. Head south towards the main road, Stationsweg. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with the Breestraat. Turn right onto the Breestraat and walk straight until you reach the old city square, the Beestenmarkt. From there, head towards the canal, and follow it until you reach the bridge leading to the city park, the Haarlemmerhout. Continue straight through the park until you see signs for the bus station. Take bus number 40 or 43 directly to Amsterdam, which stops near the Hortus Botanicus.

    From Leiden Central Station, purchase a ticket for a train to Amsterdam Central Station. The trains run frequently, so check the schedule on the NS (Dutch Railways) app or website. Once you arrive at Amsterdam Central, exit the station and walk towards the bus stop outside. Board bus line 170, which will take you directly to the Hortus Botanicus stop. The botanical garden is a short walk from the bus stop.
