Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from the city center of Utrecht, head towards the Dom Tower and exit the square by taking the street called 'Korte Jansstraat'. Continue straight until you reach 'Vismarkt' and turn right onto 'Lange Viestraat'. Follow this street until you reach 'Oude Gracht' and cross the bridge. Continue straight until you reach 'Oudegracht'. Keep walking until you arrive at the central train station (Utrecht Centraal). From here, take a train to Leiden. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Once in Leiden, exit the train station and walk towards 'Stationsweg', then turn left onto 'Breestraat'. Continue straight until you reach a fork in the road, then take the right side onto 'Rapenburg'. The Hortus Botanicus Leiden will be on your left at number 73.

From Utrecht Central Station, purchase a ticket to Leiden. Trains run frequently, approximately every 15-30 minutes. Once you board the train, enjoy the scenic ride which takes about 30 minutes. After arriving at Leiden Central Station, exit the station and walk towards 'Stationsweg'. Turn left onto 'Breestraat', and continue straight until you reach a fork. Take the right side onto 'Rapenburg'. The Hortus Botanicus Leiden will be located on your left at Rapenburg 73.

Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the bike rental shops in Utrecht. Start at the Dom Tower and make your way towards 'Vismarkt', then follow the same route to 'Oude Gracht' and head to Utrecht Central Station. From there, cycle to Leiden, following the designated bike paths. The total cycling distance is about 35 kilometers and will take approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Upon reaching Leiden, follow 'Stationsweg' and 'Breestraat' to 'Rapenburg'. The Hortus Botanicus will be on your left at number 73.
