Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from anywhere in Douglas County, start by getting onto US-395 North. Depending on your starting location, you may need to take local roads to reach this highway. Continue on US-395 North for about 20 miles until you reach the junction with NV-207. Take the exit toward NV-207 East (Kingsbury Grade) and follow this road for approximately 8 miles. As you approach Lake Tahoe, look for signs directing you toward Glenbrook. After entering Glenbrook, keep an eye out for marked turn-offs leading to the Skunk Harbor Trailhead. There is no direct road to Skunk Harbor itself, so you'll need to park at the designated parking area and head on foot to the harbor via the trail.

• Public Transportation

  Using public transportation, you can take a bus or shuttle service from various locations in Douglas County towards Stateline, NV. You will need to find a way to get to the nearest bus station that serves routes towards Stateline. Once you arrive in Stateline, you may need to use a rideshare service or taxi to get to Glenbrook. From Glenbrook, the Skunk Harbor Trailhead is accessible on foot, but make sure to check the trail conditions and carry sufficient water and gear for the hike. Be aware that public transportation schedules may vary, so plan accordingly.

• Hiking

  Upon arriving at the Skunk Harbor Trailhead, prepare for a hike to Skunk Harbor. The trail is approximately 1.5 miles long, with varying terrain, so suitable footwear is recommended. Keep in mind that this hike is downhill on the way to the harbor, which means it will be uphill on your return trip. Make sure to pack enough water and snacks, and plan for a time budget of about 1 hour for the hike each way.
