Car
If you are already in the Ruby Mountains, drive towards the Lamoille Canyon entrance located off of NV-227. From the Ruby Mountains, head south on NV-227 for approximately 12 miles. You will see signs for Lamoille Canyon. Turn left onto Lamoille Canyon Road, which will take you into the canyon. The parking area is about 5 miles up the road and offers beautiful views and trail access.
Public Transportation
Public transportation options are limited in this remote area. Your best bet would be to take a Greyhound bus or a local shuttle to Elko, Nevada. From Elko, you may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to get to the Lamoille Canyon area, as there are no direct public transit routes. Be prepared for possible costs ranging from $50 to $100 for the taxi ride, depending on availability and distance.
Bicycle
For the adventurous, cycling is an option! If you are staying in the Ruby Mountains, take NV-227 south for approximately 12 miles, then turn left onto Lamoille Canyon Road. The road is paved and offers stunning views, but be aware of the elevation gain as you approach the canyon. Ensure you are well-prepared with water and snacks for the ride.
