Step Back in Time at the Colonial House Museum

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are in the center of Cape May, start at the Cape May Convention Hall located at 714 Beach Ave. Head west towards the intersection of Beach Avenue and Washington Street. Turn left onto Washington Street and continue walking for about 0.5 miles. As you walk, you'll pass various shops and restaurants. Keep an eye out for the Washington Street Mall. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with 7th Avenue. Cross over to the other side of Washington Street. The Colonial House Museum will be located a short distance ahead on your left at 653 1/2 Washington St.

• Biking

  If you have a bike, you can rent one from a local shop in Cape May. Start from the Cape May Promenade, heading north on Beach Avenue. When you reach Washington Street, turn left. Continue on Washington Street for about 0.5 miles, passing through the Washington Street Mall. Keep riding until you reach 7th Avenue, then cross to the other side of Washington Street. The Colonial House Museum will be ahead on your left at 653 1/2 Washington St.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  While Cape May does not have an extensive public transport system, you can take the NJ Transit bus service. Board the bus heading to Cape May from nearby towns. Once you arrive at the Cape May Terminal, walk east towards the intersection of Beach Avenue and Washington Street. From there, walk up Washington Street for about 0.5 miles until you reach 653 1/2 Washington St, where the Colonial House Museum is located.
