If you are driving to The Proprietary House, start by navigating to the nearest major road in Jersey Shore, which is Route 35. Follow Route 35 North until you reach the exit for Route 34 North towards Matawan. Merge onto Route 34 and continue until you reach the intersection with Route 9. Take Route 9 North and continue until you see signs for Route 440. Merge onto Route 440 North, following signs for Perth Amboy. Continue on Route 440 for approximately 10 miles, then take the exit towards Perth Amboy. Merge onto Kearny Avenue. The Proprietary House will be on your right at 149 Kearny Ave, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861. Parking is typically available along the street, but be sure to check for any parking restrictions.
Public Transportation - Train
For those using public transportation, the New Jersey Transit train service is a convenient option. Board a train at the nearest station in Jersey Shore heading towards Newark Penn Station. At Newark, transfer to the North Jersey Coast Line heading towards Bay Head. Disembark at the Perth Amboy station. From the station, you can either walk or take a local bus to Kearny Avenue. If walking, head southwest on Amboy Avenue toward Kearny Avenue, then turn left onto Kearny Avenue. The Proprietary House is approximately a 15-minute walk from the station. Buses may also be available; check local schedules for specifics.
Public Transportation - Bus
Another option for public transport is the NJ Transit bus service. Look for the bus routes that service Perth Amboy from your location in Jersey Shore. You can take the 817 or 815 bus lines, which will drop you off at or near the Perth Amboy bus terminal. From there, head northwest on Smith Street, then turn left onto Kearny Avenue. The Proprietary House is located at 149 Kearny Ave, approximately a 10-minute walk from the bus terminal.
