From Paterson, walk to the nearest NJ Transit bus stop. Take the NJ Transit bus #190 towards New York Port Authority. The journey will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Disembark at the stop near 42nd Street and 8th Avenue in Manhattan. From there, walk east on 42nd Street for about 5 blocks until you reach Broadway. Turn left on Broadway and continue walking for about 5 more blocks until you reach 828 Broadway, Strand Book Store on your right.

Head to the Paterson Train Station and board a NJ Transit train on the North Jersey Coast Line towards New York Penn Station. The train ride will take around 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Penn Station, exit the station and walk to 34th Street. From there, take the subway (1, 2, or 3 train) downtown to 42nd Street. After exiting, walk east on 42nd Street for about 5 blocks to Broadway, then turn left and walk for an additional 5 blocks to reach 828 Broadway, Strand Book Store.

If you're in the downtown area of Paterson, walk to the intersection of Main Street and Market Street. Head south on Main Street until you reach the NJ Transit Bus Terminal. From there, catch the NJ Transit bus #190 towards New York Port Authority. It will take approximately 30-40 minutes to reach New York City. Once you get off at Port Authority, follow the same walking instructions as mentioned above to reach Strand Book Store.
