Bus
From Paterson, head to the nearest NJ Transit bus stop. You can catch the NJ Transit 74 bus towards New York. This bus will take you directly to the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan. Once you arrive at Port Authority, walk to 42nd Street and take the subway line 1, 2, or 3 downtown to 14th Street - 7th Avenue Station. From there, transfer to the L train towards Canarsie - Rockaway Parkway and get off at 14th Street - Union Square. Union Square Park will be a short walk from the station.

Walk to the Paterson train station and take the NJ Transit train on the North Jersey Coast Line towards New York Penn Station. Once you arrive at Penn Station, exit the station and walk to 34th Street to catch the subway. Take the N, Q, R, or W train downtown to 14th Street Union Square. Once you exit the subway, follow the signs to Union Square Park, which is located just a block away.
