Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car within Carson National Forest, head towards US-64. Depending on your current location in the forest, you will need to find the nearest road that connects to US-64. Once you are on US-64, head east towards Eagle Nest. Continue on US-64 for approximately 12 miles until you reach Cimarron Canyon State Park, which is located at 28869 US-64, Eagle Nest, NM 87718. Keep an eye out for the park entrance on your right. There is a small parking fee required to enter the park, so make sure to have some cash or a credit card ready.

• Public Transportation

  Public transportation options are limited in this remote area. However, you can take a bus service from Taos or other nearby towns to Eagle Nest. Once you arrive at Eagle Nest, you may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach Cimarron Canyon State Park, which is about 12 miles east of the bus drop-off point.   For those who prefer cycling, if you are already within Carson National Forest, you can bike to Cimarron Canyon State Park via US-64. Be aware that there are limited facilities along the route, so bring plenty of water and snacks. The park entrance will be on your right as you approach Eagle Nest.
