Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start on NM-4 from any location in the Jemez Mountains. Follow NM-4 north towards Los Alamos. Continue on NM-4 for approximately 20 miles until you reach the junction with Overlook Road, located just outside of White Rock. Turn left onto Overlook Road and drive for about 1 mile. White Rock Overlook will be on your right at 700 Overlook Rd, White Rock, NM 87547. There is no entrance fee, and parking is available at the overlook.

• Public Transportation

  Public transportation options are limited in the Jemez Mountains. A feasible option is to take the NM Park & Ride service to Los Alamos. From Los Alamos, you can either rent a car or use local taxi services to reach White Rock. If you choose to rent a car, head out from Los Alamos on NM-4 towards White Rock as described above. Make sure to check the NM Park & Ride schedule for service times, as they may vary.

• Biking or Hiking

  For the adventurous, biking or hiking is also an option. From the campground areas within the Jemez Mountains, you can bike or hike along the trails that lead towards the main roads. However, ensure you have a good map or GPS device, as trail markers may not always be clear. Once you reach NM-4, you can continue on foot or by bike towards White Rock; just be cautious of traffic. Bring plenty of water and snacks.
