Car
If you're traveling by car, the El Malpais National Monument Visitor Center is located at 1900 E Santa Fe Ave, Grants, NM 87020. From Albuquerque, get on I-40 W from Central Ave SW. Continue on I-40 W for about 75 miles. Take exit 85 for NM-117 toward Grants. Follow NM-117 for about 10 miles until you reach Grants. Once in Grants, head east on Santa Fe Ave, and you'll find the visitor center on your left. There is no admission fee for the visitor center itself, but be aware that some areas within the monument may have fees for parking or tours.

For those using public transportation, Greyhound offers bus services to Grants, NM. Once you arrive at the Grants station, you can take a taxi or rideshare service to reach the El Malpais National Monument Visitor Center, which is approximately 2 miles away. The taxi fare is usually around $10-$15. Be sure to check the Greyhound schedule in advance, as services may be limited.
