Getting There

  • Car

    From the Sandia Peak Tramway parking lot, head south on NM-556 towards NM-14. After approximately 2 miles, merge onto NM-14 North. Continue on NM-14 for about 6 miles until you reach the junction with NM-536. Turn left onto NM-536 and follow the signs for the Sandia Mountain Wilderness. The main access point is located at the Sandia Crest parking area, where you can find various trails leading into the wilderness.

  • Public Transportation

    From Sandia Peak Tramway, walk to the nearest bus stop on Route 2 (Candelaria). You will need to take the bus towards the Albuquerque International Sunport. After about 20 minutes, transfer to Route 12 at the Central and Unser stop. Ride the bus until you reach the Sandia Mountain Wilderness area.
