From the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, head south on NM-68 S toward Española. Merge onto US-285 S and continue for approximately 150 miles. Take the exit for US-62 W/US-180 W toward Carlsbad. Follow US-62 W/US-180 W for about 50 miles until you reach the entrance of Carlsbad Caverns National Park. Be aware that there is an entrance fee of $15 per vehicle, valid for up to 7 days.
