Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from the Socorro Plaza, head northeast on New Mexico Highway 1 (also known as California Street) towards the intersection with 5th Street. This is about a 10-minute walk. Once you reach the intersection, turn left onto 5th Street and continue walking for about 0.3 miles until you reach the intersection with Church Street. At this point, turn right onto Church Street. Continue on Church Street for about another 0.2 miles until you reach the Elfego Baca Heritage Park, which will be on your left.

• Bicycle

  Starting from the Socorro Plaza, you can rent a bicycle from a local shop. Head northeast on New Mexico Highway 1 (California Street) and then turn left onto 5th Street. Continue on 5th Street for approximately 0.3 miles and then turn right onto Church Street. The park is located about 0.2 miles down Church Street on your left. This route should take around 15-20 minutes depending on your cycling speed.

  While Socorro does not have a formal public transit system, you can use local services or ask for rides from fellow tourists or locals. If you are near the Socorro Plaza, you can ask locals for the best way to reach Elfego Baca Heritage Park, as many residents are familiar with it.
