Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from Taos Ski Valley, begin at the main intersection in the village where the Taos Ski Valley Road (NM-150) meets the main parking area. Head south on NM-150 for approximately 4.5 miles. Look for the sign for Twining Campground on your right. Turn onto the dirt road, which will lead you directly to the campground. Note that parking may be limited, so arrive early if possible.

• Public Transportation

  Public transportation options are limited in Taos Ski Valley, but you can use the local shuttle service if available during your visit. Check with the Taos Ski Valley visitor center for shuttle schedules. If you can get a ride to the Taos Ski Valley main area, follow the same directions as for driving, as the campground is about 4.5 miles down NM-150. Be aware that a taxi or ride-share service could also be an option to get you closer to the campground.

• Hiking

  For adventurous travelers, it is possible to hike to Twining Campground from the surrounding areas. If you're near the Taos Ski Valley village, follow the trails that lead south toward NM-150. You may need to navigate some unmarked paths, so it's best to have a map or GPS-enabled device. The hike is approximately 4.5 miles and can be steep in some areas, so ensure you're prepared with proper hiking gear.
