If you are driving, start from the Taos Ski Valley parking area. Head south on NM-150 for approximately 0.5 miles. The entrance to Gavilan Trail will be on your left at 1281 NM-150. Look for a small sign indicating the trailhead. There is no fee for parking at the trailhead.

Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, take the Taos Ski Valley Shuttle from the Taos Plaza. The shuttle will take you to the Taos Ski Valley area. You will need to get off at the Taos Ski Valley bus stop located near the intersection of NM-150 and Twining Road. From there, it is a short walk of about 0.5 miles south on NM-150 to reach Gavilan Trail. The shuttle service may have a small fare, typically around $5 per person.

For those already in the Taos Ski Valley area, you can walk to Gavilan Trail. If you are at the base of the ski area, walk east towards NM-150 and then head south along NM-150 for about 0.5 miles. Be mindful of traffic as you walk along the road. The trailhead will be on your left at 1281 NM-150.
