Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the nearest major town, Lake Placid. Take NY-73 E for about 15 miles until you reach the junction with County Route 9 in Keene. Turn left onto County Route 9, which will lead you into the town of Keene. Continue on this road for about 5 miles, and you will see signs for the Mt. Haystack trailhead. Look for the parking area on the left side of the road, just before you reach the Keene Valley. Note that parking may require a fee, typically around $10, and can vary by season.

If you prefer public transportation, take the Adirondack Trailways bus from New York City to Lake Placid. Upon arrival in Lake Placid, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you to Keene, which is approximately a 30-minute ride. Once in Keene, you can follow the same directions as those traveling by car to reach the Mt. Haystack trailhead. Be aware that taxi costs can vary, but expect to pay around $30 to $50 for the ride.
