Car
If you are traveling by car, head to Keene Valley, NY 12943. From the center of Keene Valley, take Route 73 east for about 1.5 miles. Look for the parking area on the right side of the road, which is the trailhead for Sawteeth Mountain. Parking may be limited, so arrive early to secure a spot. Note that there may be a small parking fee depending on the season.
Public Transportation
For those relying on public transportation, take a bus to Lake Placid, NY, which has connections from various cities. From Lake Placid, you can catch the Adirondack Transit bus towards Keene Valley. Get off at the designated stop in Keene Valley. From there, it is approximately a 30-minute walk to the Sawteeth Mountain trailhead on Route 73. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance as service may be limited, especially on weekends.
Hiking
Once at the trailhead, you will embark on the Sawteeth Mountain hiking trail. The hike is approximately 6.6 miles round trip with an elevation gain of about 1,300 feet. Ensure you have proper hiking gear, water, and snacks for the journey. It is recommended to start early in the day to enjoy the views and return before dark.
