Car
If you're driving, head towards Route 28 from wherever you are in the Catskill Mountains. Follow Route 28 until you reach the town of Olive. From Olive, take a right onto County Route 42. Continue on County Route 42 for about 5 miles until you see signs for the Ashokan Reservoir. There will be a parking area where you can enjoy the views.
Public Transportation
To reach the Ashokan Reservoir via public transport, first take a bus to the town of Kingston. From Kingston, board the Ulster County Area Transit (UCAT) bus that runs towards Olive. Make sure to check the schedule as the frequency may vary. Get off at the stop closest to County Route 42. From there, it’s about a 1.5-mile walk to the Reservoir. Follow County Route 42 until you reach the parking area for Ashokan Reservoir.
