Continue on NY-28 for approximately 18 miles until you reach the intersection with Woodland Valley Road. Turn left onto Woodland Valley Road. After about 1.5 miles, you will arrive at the parking area for Slide Mountain Wilderness, located at 455 Woodland Valley Rd, Phoenicia, NY 12464. There is no parking fee, but be sure to arrive early during peak seasons as the parking can fill up quickly.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from New York City to Phoenicia via the Trailways bus service. The bus departs from the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Once you arrive in Phoenicia, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach Slide Mountain Wilderness. The distance from the bus station in Phoenicia to the wilderness area is approximately 4 miles, and taxi fares typically range from $10 to $20, depending on the service.
Biking
If you're up for a biking adventure, you can rent a bike in Phoenicia and ride to Slide Mountain Wilderness. Head south on NY-214 from the center of Phoenicia for about 2.5 miles until you reach Woodland Valley Road. Turn left and follow Woodland Valley Road for another 1.5 miles to the parking area. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow all traffic regulations. This route features scenic views but can be challenging due to some elevation changes.
