Car
If you are traveling by car, head towards Claryville, NY 12725. From New York City, take I-87 N (New York State Thruway) to exit 19 for Kingston. Merge onto NY-28 W and continue for about 35 miles. Turn left onto County Road 47, then take another left onto NY-42 S. Follow NY-42 S until you reach Claryville. Once in Claryville, follow signs to the Big Indian Wilderness area. Note that there may be parking fees at designated areas.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus from New York City to Kingston, NY. Companies like Trailways offer service from the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Once in Kingston, you can take a local taxi or rideshare service to reach Claryville. Confirm the availability of taxis as they may be limited. From Claryville, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare to take you to the Big Indian Wilderness area, as public transportation options may be sparse.
Hiking/Walking
Once you have arrived at the Big Indian Wilderness area, be prepared to hike to explore the beautiful nature preserves. There are multiple trails that offer varying levels of difficulty.
