From major locations in the Finger Lakes region, such as Ithaca or Geneva, you will generally head towards Route 96A. If you're coming from Ithaca, take NY-79 W to NY-96 S, and follow signs for NY-96A. If driving from Geneva, take NY-5 E to NY-96A. The park is located directly along this highway, making it relatively straightforward to access. There is a small parking fee for the state park, which is typically around $8 per vehicle, so have cash or a card ready.
Public Transportation
For those relying on public transportation, the closest bus service is provided by the Finger Lakes Public Transit. You can take a bus from Ithaca or Geneva to Romulus. Once you arrive in Romulus, you may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach Sampson State Park, as the park is about 5 miles away from the nearest bus stop. Check the Finger Lakes Public Transit schedule in advance to ensure you can coordinate your arrival and departure times.
