    If you are driving from any location in Fire Island, you will need to take a ferry to the mainland, typically from the Sayville or Patchogue ferry terminals. From the Sayville ferry terminal, follow the signs to Route 27 (Sunrise Highway) heading west. Take exit 50 for NY-111 and continue on NY-111 until you reach Heckscher State Parkway. Turn onto Heckscher State Parkway and follow it to the park entrance at 1 Heckscher State Parkway, East Islip, NY 11730. Parking is available at the park for a fee of $8 per vehicle.

    To reach Heckscher State Park using public transportation, first take the ferry from Fire Island to Sayville.
