Shadow Rock Pool is approximately 2 miles down NY-86. Be cautious of traffic as you walk along this road. You will see signs for the pool indicating the entrance point. The area is well-known for its natural beauty, so take your time to enjoy the scenery along the way.
Biking
If you have access to a bike, rent one at a local shop near Main Street. Start your journey by heading northeast on Main Street, then take a left onto NY-86. The bike ride will take you along the scenic route with views of the surrounding mountains and lakes. Maintain a safe speed and be cautious of vehicles on the road. The distance is about 2 miles, which should take around 10-15 minutes depending on your pace. Look for the signs indicating the entrance to Shadow Rock Pool.
Public Transport
While there is limited public transport directly to Shadow Rock Pool, you can take a local shuttle or bus from Lake Placid to nearby hiking areas. Check with the local visitor center or online for current schedules. Once you reach the nearest drop-off point on NY-86, proceed on foot heading towards Shadow Rock Pool, which is about a 20-minute walk from the bus stop. Make sure to verify the return schedule for your journey back to Lake Placid.
