Getting There

  • Walking

    Start at the Montauk train station. Exit the station and head northeast on Montauk Highway (Route 27). Continue walking on Montauk Highway for about 1.5 miles until you reach the intersection with East Lake Drive. You will pass various shops and restaurants along the way. Once you reach the intersection, turn left onto East Lake Drive and follow it until it becomes South Edison Street. Continue straight until you reach the end of the street where it meets the beach. At this point, you can either head to the beach to enjoy the view or continue walking along the cliffside path which will lead you directly to Montauk Lighthouse.

  • Bicycle

    Rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Montauk. Start from the Montauk train station and head east on Montauk Highway (Route 27). After approximately 1.5 miles, turn left onto East Lake Drive. Follow East Lake Drive as it curves and turns into South Edison Street. Continue straight until you reach the beach. From there, take the scenic path along the cliffside which will guide you directly to Montauk Lighthouse. The bike ride is enjoyable and offers beautiful views of the coastline.

    From your location in Montauk, take the Suffolk County Transit bus (S92 line) towards East Hampton. Get off at the stop near the intersection of Montauk Highway and East Lake Drive. Once you disembark, walk west along Montauk Highway for about 0.3 miles until you reach South Edison Street. Turn left on South Edison Street and walk straight until you reach the beach. Follow the scenic path along the cliff which will lead you to Montauk Lighthouse.
