To reach Hell Gate Bridge, start by locating the nearest subway station. If you are in Manhattan, head to the 125th Street station on the 1 train. Take the 1 train southbound towards South Ferry. Transfer at 59th Street-Columbus Circle to the A or C train heading downtown. Get off at the 125th Street station, then transfer to the Metro-North Railroad at the Harlem-125th Street station. Board a train heading towards New Rochelle or Grand Central (depending on the schedule). Disembark at the Astoria station and exit the station. From there, it’s about a 15-minute walk to the bridge. Follow 31st Avenue towards the East River, then turn right onto the pedestrian path that leads to the bridge.

If you prefer traveling by bus, find the nearest MTA bus stop. If you are in Manhattan, you can take the Q101 bus from 2nd Avenue station towards Astoria. Stay on the bus until you reach the stop at 31st Avenue and 24th Street. From that stop, walk straight down 31st Avenue towards the East River.
