From downtown Poughkeepsie, head to the Poughkeepsie Transit Center located at 41 Main St. Take the Dutchess County Public Transit Bus Route 1 towards Beacon. After about 25 minutes, get off at the Fishkill Commons stop. From there, walk northeast on Route 9 for about 15 minutes to reach the trailhead leading to Mt. Beacon.

Walk to the Poughkeepsie train station at 41 Main St. Take the Metro-North Railroad's Hudson Line train towards Grand Central. Get off at Beacon Station (about a 15-minute ride). From Beacon Station, you can take a local taxi or rideshare service to reach the Mt. Beacon trailhead, which is about a 10-minute drive.

Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from a local shop in Poughkeepsie. Start at the Walkway Over the Hudson, cycling south along the Hudson River on the scenic path. After about 5 miles, connect to Route 9D and follow the signs towards Beacon. The total distance is approximately 7 miles, and you will enjoy beautiful river views along the way. Once in Beacon, follow the signs to the Mt. Beacon trailhead.

For an adventurous walk, start at the Poughkeepsie waterfront. Walk along the Hudson River walkway for about 2.5 miles to reach the Walkway Over the Hudson. Cross over to Highland and follow the signs down to Route 9D. Continue walking south along Route 9D for approximately 4 miles until you reach the Mt. Beacon trailhead. This is a long walk, so make sure to bring water and snacks!
