Car
If you're driving, begin at the center of Watkins Glen. Head south on N Franklin St toward E 4th St, then turn right onto E 4th St. Continue straight as it becomes NY-14 S. After approximately 1 mile, follow the signs for Watkins Glen State Park. The entrance to the park is on your left. There is a parking fee of $8 per vehicle. Once parked, proceed to the Gorge Trail entrance.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus to the Watkins Glen bus station. From there, you can either walk (approximately 20 minutes) or use a local taxi service to reach Watkins Glen State Park. If walking, head south on N Franklin St, turn right onto E 4th St, and follow the signs to the park entrance. The walk will take you along the scenic route through the town.
Walking
Once you enter Watkins Glen State Park, you can access the Gorge Trail. Follow the trail signs to Rainbow Falls. The trail is well marked and features beautiful scenery along the way. Rainbow Falls is approximately a 1-mile hike from the park entrance, and it should take you around 30-45 minutes to reach the falls, depending on your pace.
