Getting There

• Public Transit

  To get to Bear Mountain State Park from White Plains, start by taking the Metro-North Railroad from White Plains Station. Board a train on the Hudson Line towards Poughkeepsie. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes. Disembark at Peekskill Station. Once you arrive at Peekskill, exit the station and head to the local bus stop. Take the Westchester County Bee-Line Bus #63 towards the Bear Mountain Inn. This bus will take you directly to the park entrance. The total travel time should be around 1.5 hours, depending on train and bus schedules.

  If you're feeling adventurous and want to bike to Bear Mountain State Park, start from White Plains and head north on Route 9A, which is the scenic route along the Hudson River. Follow Route 9A for about 12 miles until you reach the entrance of the park. Be aware that there are some hills along the way, so make sure you're prepared for a workout! The ride will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on your pace.

  Walking to Bear Mountain State Park from White Plains is quite a long trek, as it is roughly 15 miles away. If you're up for a challenge, start by heading north on Route 22. Continue walking for about 4 miles until you reach the intersection with Route 9A. From there, follow Route 9A along the Hudson River. You will need to navigate through some busy roads and ensure you have appropriate walking gear, as it may take approximately 5 to 6 hours to reach the park on foot.
