Bus
From White Plains, head to the White Plains Bus Terminal. You can catch the Bee-Line Bus #60 towards New York City. It runs frequently and will take you directly to the city. Stay on the bus for approximately 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan, exit the bus and navigate to 42nd Street. From there, transfer to the subway at the Times Square-42nd Street station, taking the downtown 1, 2, or 3 train. Get off at 14th Street and walk east to Union Square, which is just a few blocks away.
Train
Make your way to the White Plains Metro-North Railroad station. Board a train on the Harlem Line heading towards Grand Central Terminal. After about a 30-minute ride, you will arrive at Grand Central. From the terminal, follow the signs to the subway station and take the 4, 5, 6, or S train to 14th Street-Union Square. Once you arrive at Union Square, you can exit and explore the area.
Walking
If you're already in the downtown area of White Plains, you can enjoy a leisurely walk to Union Square. Head south on Main Street until you reach the intersection with Martine Avenue. Turn left onto Martine Avenue and continue until you reach the White Plains Metro-North station. From there, you could take a train, but if you're up for it, continue walking towards the southern edge of White Plains, where you can catch a bus or a train to Manhattan. Note that this is a longer walk and might take over an hour, but it can be a great way to see the city.
