    Subway

    From White Plains, head to the White Plains Metro-North train station. Take the Harlem Line train towards Grand Central Terminal. Once you arrive at Grand Central, follow the signs to the 42nd Street subway station. Take the downtown 6 train towards Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and get off at the Astor Place station. From there, walk west on Astor Place, which becomes 8th Street, until you reach Washington Square Park at the intersection with Washington Square South.

    Bus

    Take the Bee-Line Bus #60 from White Plains to the Bronx River Parkway. From there, transfer to the #1 bus towards the Bronx and get off at the 42nd Street/Times Square stop. Walk to the 42nd Street subway station and take the downtown 6 train towards Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall. Get off at the Astor Place station, then walk west on Astor Place (8th Street) until you reach Washington Square Park.
