Getting There

• Bus

  If you are in the central area of Christchurch, you can catch a bus towards Cathedral Square from various bus stops. Look for the bus routes that indicate they stop at Cathedral Square, such as the Orbiter or Blue Line buses. Make your way to the nearest bus stop, and board the bus. The ride will take approximately 5-15 minutes depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the Cathedral Square stop, you will be right at the entrance to the square.

• Walking

  If you're within walking distance, Cathedral Square is easily accessible on foot. Start from the Christchurch Botanic Gardens, head south towards Rolleston Avenue. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Worcester Boulevard. Turn left onto Worcester Boulevard and continue walking. You will eventually reach Cathedral Square in about 15-20 minutes from the gardens. The square is a large open space, and you can't miss the iconic Christchurch Cathedral located in the center.

• Tram

  You can also take the Christchurch Tram, which is a popular tourist attraction. Board the tram at any of its stops in the central city. Make sure to select a tram that stops at Cathedral Square. The tram ride will provide you with a scenic view of the city and will take approximately 10-15 minutes. Get off at the Cathedral Square stop, where you'll find yourself in the heart of the square.
