Ensure to inform the driver that you will be getting off at Matamata. Once you arrive in Matamata, you can explore the area on foot.

    Train

    From Hamilton, take a train from the Hamilton Train Station located on Tristram Street. Board a train heading to Papakura and change at Papakura for a train to Matamata. The total travel time is around 1 hour and 30 minutes. After reaching Matamata, follow the signs to the town center, which is a short walk from the train station.

    Cycle

    If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Hamilton. Follow the river path along the Waikato River, heading east towards Matamata.
