Walking
Start at the Nelson i-SITE Visitor Information Centre located at 74 Trafalgar Street. From the i-SITE, head west on Trafalgar Street towards Hardy Street. Turn left onto Hardy Street, and continue until you reach the waterfront area. Follow the waterfront path that leads you towards the Tahunanui Beach. Walk along the beach until you reach the end of the beach area. You will find a path leading to the Boulder Bank. Follow the pathway that leads you along the Boulder Bank track, which offers stunning views of the ocean and the surrounding landscapes.
Cycling
Begin your journey at the Nelson i-SITE Visitor Information Centre on Trafalgar Street. Rent a bike from a nearby rental shop if you don’t have one. Cycle west on Trafalgar Street, then take a left onto Hardy Street. Continue straight until you reach the Waterfront Drive. Follow this road as it curves around the waterfront towards Tahunanui Beach. Once at the beach, cycle along the designated cycle path that leads towards the Boulder Bank. There are clear signs along the way directing you to the Boulder Bank track.
Public Transport
From central Nelson, make your way to the nearest bus stop and catch the bus heading to Tahunanui. Ensure to check the bus schedule for the correct times. Upon arriving at the Tahunanui Beach bus stop, disembark and head towards the beach. Follow the beachfront path that leads you to the Boulder Bank. There are pedestrian access points along the beach where you can enter the Boulder Bank track.
