Car
If you're driving, start your journey from Dunedin. Head south on State Highway 1 (SH1) for about 23 kilometers until you reach the turnoff for State Highway 87 (SH87) towards Balclutha. Continue on SH87 until you reach Balclutha, then take SH1 south again. After approximately 60 kilometers, take a left onto Catlins Road (also known as Nugget Point Road). Follow this road until you reach The Nuggets Road, where you will find signage directing you to Nugget Point Lighthouse, located at the end of the road. The total drive from Dunedin will take about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic and stops along the way.

To reach Nugget Point Lighthouse using public transport, you can take a bus from Dunedin to Balclutha. Check the local bus schedules as they may vary. Once in Balclutha, you will need to arrange for a taxi or a rideshare service to take you to Nugget Point. The taxi ride from Balclutha to Nugget Point is about 30-40 minutes, so be prepared for a small additional cost for the taxi fare, which can range from NZD 60 to NZD 100 depending on the service.
