Car
If you are driving from Dunedin, take State Highway 1 (SH1) heading south. After about 27 km, take the exit towards State Highway 88 (SH88) to Port Chalmers. Continue on SH88 for about 18 km until you reach the intersection with the Otago Peninsula Road. Turn left onto Otago Peninsula Road and follow it for approximately 15 km. Keep an eye out for signs to Pilots Beach as you approach the area. The beach will be located on your left side.

To reach Pilots Beach using public transport, you can take a bus from Dunedin to Port Chalmers. Look for the bus service that operates on the Port Chalmers route (Bus number 14 is commonly used). The journey takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Port Chalmers, you can either walk or take a taxi to Pilots Beach, which is approximately 3 km away. Walking will take about 35-40 minutes.
