Car
From Invercargill, take State Highway 1 north towards Gore. Continue on SH1 until you reach the junction with State Highway 94, then take the exit towards Te Anau. Drive along SH94 for about 1 hour, then turn onto Milford Road (SH94) towards Milford Sound. After approximately 30 minutes, you will see signs for the Giant Gate Falls car park. Park your vehicle here, and follow the walking trail to the falls. The walk is around 20-30 minutes depending on your pace.

Public Transportation
Take a bus from Invercargill to Te Anau. Several bus companies operate this route, and the journey takes about 2 hours. From the Te Anau bus stop, you can either rent a car or take a guided tour that includes a visit to Giant Gate Falls. If you rent a car, follow the directions as mentioned above from Te Anau. If you are on a guided tour, confirm with the tour provider that Giant Gate Falls is included in the itinerary.

If you are already in the Fiordland National Park area, you can access Giant Gate Falls by walking from the Milford Track. The falls are located near the track, and it usually takes a few days of tramping to reach this point.
