Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the town of Takaka. Head west on State Highway 60 for about 15 km until you reach the junction with Wainui Bay Road. Turn right onto Wainui Bay Road and continue for approximately 10 km. At the end of Wainui Bay Road, turn left onto Wainui Falls Road. Follow this road for about 1 km, and you will find the car park for Wainui Falls on your right. Parking is free.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus from Takaka to the Wainui Bay area. The bus service is operated by the local company, and you can check their schedule for specific times. Once you arrive at Wainui Bay, you will need to walk approximately 2 km along Wainui Bay Road to reach the Wainui Falls car park. Be sure to plan your return trip in advance, as bus services may be limited.
Walking
If you prefer to walk and are staying nearby in Wainui Bay or another location, you can hike to Wainui Falls. From Wainui Bay, follow Wainui Bay Road until you reach the falls. The walk is scenic and allows you to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Please note that the walk from Wainui Bay to the falls is approximately 2 km one way.
