Climbing in Wanaka

Introduction to Wanaka Rock Climbing - Half Day

Awesome experience, awesome guides

This was an awesome experience. I’m just getting into rock climbing, and my guide (Issac is what I think is name was, but I’m not good with names) was very supportive in trying to find routes that were not too easy for me to climb, but also not impossible. The whole experience was done very well; all the gear was included and was in good shape, the guide was easygoing and personable, they made sure you knew what was going on, and also helped out with spotting holds when things got difficult. There was also no waiting around, I arrived and they got right to getting my kit sized and out to the rock face. Issac also gave tips on how to get into the sport and gain more experience in the future. Not to mention that the views are pretty amazing and the area around Wanaka is one of the most scenic in NZ. I would just like note that this is real rock climbing, so it is a pretty physical endeavor. While the guides do have ways of making it a lot easier on newcomers, like myself, there is a limit and one should be in reasonably good shape before trying this. Definitely recommend and will likely do this again if I end up back in the area.

Wildwire Wanaka- Climb & Canyon (4-5 Hours)

Don't miss this experience!

This is honestly one of our most memorable experiences in New Zealand. The company is top-notch - safe, professional, and with extremely knowledgable and experienced guides. Shane was so great. We learned so much about the area, climbing, and life in general. We loved talking to him and he kept us safe every step of the way. Also, lunch was delicious!

Mt Aspiring Full Day Canyon ex Queenstown or Wanaka

Just do it!

Such a great experience from start to finish. Hands down the best thing we did in an action packed week in Queenstown that included paragliding, white water rafting, off-road self-guided buggy tour and a couple of e-biking adventures. The canyon itself is breathtakingly beautiful, such a special place. Can’t rate the team we dealt with highly enough - Jules, Jaap & Ross - absolute legends all of them! Thank you for putting the icing on the cake of a memorable week away with my daughter. If you’re contemplating this - just do it, you won’t regret it. Cheers team!
