If you are starting from the Whangarei i-SITE Visitor Centre located at 7 Rust Avenue, head south on Rust Avenue towards Bank Street. Turn left onto Bank Street and walk until you reach the intersection with Walton Street. Continue straight onto Walton Street, passing several local shops and cafes. After about 10 minutes of walking, you will reach the Town Basin area on your left, which is marked by a beautiful waterfront.

From the Whangarei Art Museum located at 7a Reyburn Street, exit the museum and head towards the end of Reyburn Street. Turn right onto the main road (Harris Street), and follow this road for about 5 minutes. You will see signs directing you to the Town Basin.
