Car
If you're driving, start from the main town of Moyogalpa. Head east on the main road (Carretera a Santo Domingo) towards Santo Domingo. Continue on this road for approximately 12 km until you reach the coordinates GC7V+WQ9. Look for signs indicating La Chiponga, which is located near the lake. There is usually parking available on-site.
Public Transportation (Bus)
From Moyogalpa, you can take a local bus heading to Santo Domingo. Buses frequently leave from the main bus terminal in Moyogalpa. The fare is about 20 Nicaraguan Córdoba (approximately $0.60). Inform the bus driver that you want to go to La Chiponga, and they will drop you off at the closest point. From there, it is a short walk (about 500 meters) to reach the location at GC7V+WQ9.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from any location in Ometepe. The fare from Moyogalpa to La Chiponga typically ranges from 200 to 300 Nicaraguan Cordobas (around $6 to $9). Make sure to agree on the price before you begin your journey. The driver should be familiar with the location.
Bicycle (Rental)
For a more adventurous approach, consider renting a bicycle in Moyogalpa. Follow the same route as the cars, heading towards Santo Domingo. The ride is roughly 12 km, and you’ll enjoy beautiful views along the way. Rental prices typically range from 100 to 200 Nicaraguan Cordobas ($3 to $6) for a day. Once you arrive at GC7V+WQ9, you can lock your bike nearby.
