Getting There

    To reach Lake Nicaragua from Ometepe, start by heading to one of the ferry terminals on the island. The most common terminal is in the town of San Jorge. If you're coming from Moyogalpa, it’s a short walk to the terminal. Purchase a ticket for the ferry to San Jorge (the trip takes approximately 1 hour). Once you arrive at San Jorge, you will disembark and find yourself on the shore of Lake Nicaragua. From here, you can explore the area or take a local bus or taxi to reach other destinations around the lake.

    If you are near the town of Santo Domingo, you can hire a local boat to take you across to Lake Nicaragua directly. Make sure to negotiate the price beforehand. The boat ride offers a scenic view of the lake and takes around 30 minutes. Once you reach the other side, you can either continue exploring by foot or wait for a local transport to take you further into the area surrounding Lake Nicaragua.
