Getting There

  • Walking

    If you're starting from San José del Sur, head northeast on the main road towards Altagracia. After about 1.5 km, you'll reach the intersection with a road leading to the left toward the town of Moyogalpa. Turn left and continue walking for about 5 km until you reach Moyogalpa. From Moyogalpa, head towards the ferry terminal. Once you reach the terminal, you can catch a boat to Masaya. After disembarking in Masaya, walk towards the center of town until you find a local bus heading towards the El Coyotepe Fortress area. Get off at the nearest stop and follow the signs to the fortress, which is a short walk uphill.

  • Bicycle

    Starting from Altagracia, rent a bicycle and head west towards Moyogalpa on the main road. It's a scenic ride, approximately 5 km. Upon reaching Moyogalpa, you can rent a local bike taxi to take you to the ferry terminal. Once in Masaya, you can either continue cycling towards the fortress or take a local bus. If you decide to cycle, follow the main road until you reach the fortress area, which will be signposted.
