Hi, I'm Eve. Here are a few practical things to know before exploring Farin Ruwa Falls.
Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Car
If you are driving, start your journey from Abuja, the capital city. Head northeast on the A2 highway, following signs towards Keffi. After approximately 40 km, take the exit towards Keffi. Continue through Keffi and follow the signs to Nasarawa. Once in Nasarawa, keep heading towards Mangar, which is around 60 km further. Upon reaching Mangar, look for signs directing you to Farin Ruwa Falls. The final stretch includes a dirt road leading to the falls, so a vehicle with good ground clearance is recommended.
Public Transportation
For those using public transport, begin your journey at the Jibowu Bus Terminal in Lagos or the Central Bus Station in Abuja. Board a bus heading to Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State. Upon arrival in Lafia, you will need to find a taxi or a local bus heading to Mangar. The taxi fare may vary, so be prepared to negotiate. Once in Mangar, ask locals for directions to Farin Ruwa Falls. Expect a short walk or a motorcycle taxi to cover the last mile, as the falls may be a bit off the main road.
Motorcycle Taxi
After arriving in Mangar, if you prefer a more local experience, you can hire a motorcycle taxi (popularly known as 'okada') to take you to Farin Ruwa Falls. This option is often quicker and allows you to navigate the smaller roads more easily. Negotiate the fare before starting your journey, which typically costs around 500-1000 Naira depending on the distance and your bargaining skills. Make sure to wear a helmet for safety.
Use Farin Ruwa Falls as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
