Walking
To get to the Forrest Gump Curve from downtown Boone, start at the intersection of King Street and Depot Street. Head south on Depot Street until you reach the intersection with Blowing Rock Road (US-321). Turn left onto Blowing Rock Road and continue walking for about 0.6 miles until you reach the intersection with Grandfather Mountain Entrance Road. From there, turn right onto Grandfather Mountain Entrance Road. Continue along this road for approximately 6 miles. You will see signs for Grandfather Mountain, and the Forrest Gump Curve will be along the scenic route leading up to the entrance. It's a beautiful walk, so be sure to take in the sights along the way.
Public Transportation
From Boone, you can take the AppalCart bus service. Board the Route 1 (Blue Line) at any of the stops in Boone. Stay on the bus until you reach the stop for Blowing Rock. From there, you can transfer to the Route 3 (Green Line) which will take you towards Grandfather Mountain. Make sure to notify the driver that you are headed to the Grandfather Mountain area. After alighting, you will need to walk about 1.5 miles along Grandfather Mountain Entrance Road to reach the Forrest Gump Curve. Be mindful of the road conditions as it is not very pedestrian-friendly, and consider using a map application for guidance.
